1. "How do I quickly refill the machine without waiting for it to cool down completely?
In order to refill the tank quickly, follow the steps below:
This should only be attempted if the tank is completely empty.
1. With the machine still plugged in, shut off the generator switch (indicated by the flame)
2. Turn on the switch located on the hand gun to completely expel the remaining steam from the tank. This usually takes a minute or two.
3. Unscrew the safety cap and wait 3-4 minutes to allow the generator to cool down before refilling the tank.

2. "Why is there more water than steam coming out of my Polti hand gun?"
1. There is too much water in the boiler. The maximum working capacity of the boilers in the Vaporetto and Eco Pro are 1.5 liters and 2.5 liter respectively. For best results, it is recommended that you fill the boiler in the Vaporetto with only 1 liter of water, or 2 liters of water in the case of the Eco Pro. This allows room for the water to convert to steam.
2. The warm up process may not be complete. It generally takes 10 to 15 minutes for the initial warm-up. The generator switch light (indicated by the flame) will then go out. Press the switch on the hand gun for 3-4 seconds to expel any air in the system. The generator switch light will come on again. Turn off the switch on the hand gun. When this light goes out for the second time, your Polti machine is ready for use.

3. "I'm having difficulty using my window squeegee because it makes my window too wet. What am I doing wrong?"
You may be spraying the steam too close to the glass surface. It is best to spray the glass from a distance of 3-5 inches. Then, without applying anymore steam, use the squeegee tool on the window to wipe it clean.

*****  IMPORTANT *****

Caution:  Some surfaces are very heat sensitive. Always keep a safe distance (from 4" to 6") when using the vapour on leather, silk, velvet and vinyl. Then wipe with a soft cloth.

4. "My Vaporetto came equipped with a steam regulator. What setting should I use?"
Choosing the correct amount of steam will prevent damage to delicate surfaces and allow maximum cleaning power to help you cut through tough dirt.  Follow the guidelines below:
High volume: for dirty carpets
Medium volume: for cleaning clothes
Medium-Low volume: for glass and mirrors
Low volume: for cleaning delicate surfaces including fabric, wood, wallpaper, etc.

5. "There is no vapor coming out of the hand gun. Is my appliance out of order?"
Use the check list below to determine if your machine is in good working order:
1. Is the machine plugged into a working socket?
2. Are both the generator switch (indicated by the flame) and the accessories switch in the "ON" position?
3. Is the vapor regulator open to allow the steam to come out? (This control must be turned counter clockwise to increase the steam flow)
4. Has the vapor hose been properly installed?

6. "Sometimes when I use my Vaporetto, the pressure is very low. Why does this happen?"
1. The water level in your boiler may be low. Turn off the generator (indicated by the flame). Refill your tank using the method outlined in (1).
2. If the tank has just been refilled, the warm-up process may not be complete. Refer to (2,2).

7. "How should I care for my Vaporetto to maintain efficient performance?"
1. The boiler must be rinsed out regularly. This flushes away the scale build-up left in the generator. To maintain optimal performance in domestic use, it is best to empty and flush out the tank once or twice each month (depending on the amount of use).

To properly flush the tank, remove the safety cap and fill the boiler with a half liter of water. Shake the machine to allow the water inside to swirl about and then tip the machine 90 degrees from the horizontal in order to empty the tank.
Caution: Never turn your Vaporetto upside down to empty it.

2. If you have a hard water problem in your area, it is best to use TP2000. This natural de-scaler will prevent build up of scale on the walls of your boiler and at the same time prevent oxidation of the tank. When TP2000 is used, the resulting steam will be drier, which will enhance the cleaning power of your system.

Alternatively, you may use the Polti water filter to de-mineralize the water.  Please keep in mind that distilled water must not be used because it is acidic.

Caution: Never put vinegar, bleach, CLR or any other products into the water tank.
Note: The use of TP2000 or the water filter does not eliminate the need for regular rinsing of the boiler.

3. From time to time, lubricate the 'o rings' (rubber washers) with petroleum jelly or vegetable oil. If necessary replace them with the spares that are provided.

8. "What are the differences between the boilers used in the different models?"
There are 2 types of boilers. The Extra-AlP boiler is made of a special aluminum alloy and has a working capacity of 1.5 liters. It is found in the compact, light-weight Vaporetto systems. It gives you between 30 minutes and 1.5 hours of continuous working time, making a Vaporetto system a great choice for smaller homes.

The Inox stainless steel boiler used in the Eco Pro is ideal for larger residential and small commercial applications. This high-capacity 2.5 liters boiler offers greater continuous working time. The higher pressure of up to 60 psi along with drier steam helps to complete those big jobs quickly.

Note: The continuous working time varies based on steam volume and tool selection.

9. "Why do domestic Polti machines work at an internal pressure between 45 and 60 psi?"
This ensures maximum safety and efficiency. Below 45 psi, there would be inadequate pressure to properly clean and sanitize. Above 60 psi, the amount of steam power could be potentially hazardous to the user.

10. "Can I use chemicals with my Polti system?"
Chemicals cannot be added directly into the tank. In order to enhance the cleaning power of your Polti or perhaps to remove stubborn spots, a few drops of detergent may be introduced directly to the stain.

Adding a fragrance to the already fresh, clean smell you get by cleaning with Polti is a breeze. Simply apply a few drops of your favor scent (essential oils) directly on to the cotton towel that you have attached to the brush.

11. "How does Vaporetto remove dirt?"
Unlike a vacuum cleaner, which merely picks up loose dirt, the Vaporetto is a powerful cleaning system that uses heat, moisture, pressure and friction to completely remove dirt and at the same time sanitize and disinfect, all in one easy step. Using a cotton towel while cleaning will absorb the loosened dirt like a sponge.

12. "How is it possible to sanitize and disinfect without using chemicals?"
It has been scientifically proven that vapor under pressure at high temperature (known as 'super vapor') kills germs, bacteria and dust mites.
